Watershed Festival on Tap for Aug. 18

The Lake Helena Watershed Group will hold its 5th annual Watershed Festival Saturday, Aug. 18, from 9:30 AM to 1 PM in Women's Park.

This free community event will feature lots of family-friendly activities, including:
  • Live music by Comatose Smile
  • A live exhibit of Montana fish
  • Construction of edible aquifers made of ice cream to help explain the different geological layers of the earth and how aquifers can become contaminated
  • A geocaching treasure hunt

The Lake Helena Watershed covers 620 square miles and includes three major drainages: Silver, Tenmile, and Prickly Pear Creeks. Sixty-eight percent of the watershed is in Lewis and Clark County, with the rest in Jefferson County. The festival offers a chance to learn much more about the watershed group and what it's doing to enhance and maintain our water quality and quantity.
